Peanut Butter Banana Surprise

Welcome to the Cocina Monologues!  I’m really excited about starting this blog, but I have to admit I don’t exactly know what I’m doing on the technical side of things just yet, so bear with me.  I usually post my culinary adventures on Facebook, and I’ve had many people tell me they enjoy reading about what I made, so I finally decided to create a blog dedicated to this little passion of mine.

If you check out the “About” tab, or if you know me, you know that I love to cook and I do it often.  To me, cooking is like therapy, so after a long day of work, I love to come home and unwind in the kitchen.  I love to try new recipes, new ingredients or methods, and to share my creations with others.  And I have to say, I don’t think Tim minds too much either.  I think of this blog as a means to share my passion and as a way to interact with others who also love to cook, who want to learn more, or those or who want to share ideas!

For my first recipe, I thought I’d start out with something simple and solid  – a little gem I like to call Peanut Butter Banana Surprise.  It combines two of my favorite flavors (peanut butter and banana), and it’s great for a healthy breakfast or snack!

Peanut Butter Banana Surprise

Ingredients:

1 whole wheat or whole grain tortilla

peanut butter

granola

1 ripe banana

honey

Directions:

Start out with a whole wheat or whole grain tortilla.  Spread peanut butter down the middle of the tortilla, in about a two inch wide strip.  Sprinkle on some of your favorite granola – as much as you like!  Then, add one whole peeled banana.  Sometimes you kind of have to press it down if it’s really curvy.  Lightly drizzle honey back and forth over the banana.  Now this is where I usually cut a little bit of the left and right edge of the tortilla off (about an inch) because I don’t like too much excess, but that’s up to you.  I’ll never know if you do or not.  Then, just roll it up and enjoy!
